Privacy notice — Gamma School & Gamma AI

Who we are

Gamma School operates gammaschool.org.za and the Gamma AI WhatsApp pilot for learners, parents, and educators in South Africa. We also deliver Moodle learning platforms for partner organisations.

What we collect

• WhatsApp pilot: your phone number, messages you send (including photos and voice notes), and profile details you share (e.g. name, role, grade, school, subjects, parent/guardian contact if under 18).
• Website: standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) needed to run and secure the site.
• Organisation partnerships: contact and programme details you provide when exploring a Moodle platform.

Why we use it

• Provide study help and educator drafting support
• Run and improve the controlled pilot (quality, safety, curriculum fit)
• Communicate about your participation and respond to requests
• Keep systems secure and prevent abuse

Children and consent

If a learner is under 18, parent or guardian consent is required to join the pilot. We ask for parent/guardian contact so families stay informed. Gamma AI supports learning — it does not replace teachers or guardians.

Sharing and staff access

Private learner chats stay private. We do not forward full conversation transcripts to school staff. Where educators receive teaching signals (for example topic patterns), those are aggregated insights — not a dump of private chats.

We may use trusted processors (hosting, messaging infrastructure, AI model providers) strictly to deliver the service. We do not sell personal information.

Retention

We keep pilot messages and account details only as long as needed to run the pilot, improve the product, meet legal duties, or resolve disputes — then delete or anonymise them where practical.

Your choices

You can stop using Gamma AI at any time by messaging us on WhatsApp. You may ask what information we hold about you, request a correction, or ask us to delete pilot data where we are able to. Contact us via WhatsApp on 082 648 6946 or see our Contact page.

We may update this notice as the pilot evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
